Invitation to the "Attakai"
"I want to go to church, but I feel a bit hesitant to go on a Sunday..."
"I wonder what kind of people there are..."
"What kind of person is a priest?"
"I just like the atmosphere of the church and want to go..."
It takes courage for anyone to step into the church,
Stepping into a new community can be a little intimidating.
At Shizuoka Orthodox Church, there are two classes a month, no reservation required, and you can join or leave at any time.
We hold tea parties called "Attakai."
The meaning of "Attakai" is to create a place with a warm atmosphere,
From the conversation that took place, Jesus said, "I am that I am" ( Exodus 3:14 ).
It is filled with the wish that you will be able to feel God's presence.
It can also be described as a "missionary meeting" where people learn about the Orthodox Church, where believers and non-believers can interact, and where people can experience the church community.
We will set a simple theme, but we welcome digressions and casual conversation. Participation by simply listening is also welcome.
1st and 3rd Thursday of the month 18:30-19:30
Location: Ark Hall (Parish Hall) next to the church
Parking available (up to 3 cars)
No reservation required
The priest and his wife, who will act as facilitator, will be waiting for you.
